REVISED CONFIRMATION SCHEDULE-
Dear Parents and 8th grade confirmation class (and students beyond 8th grade looking to be confirmed)
At the start of the year I had hopes to incorporate the Confirmation instruction every other week with the Sunday morning youth group. In year’s past, Confirmation instruction was typically done on a weekday. For all intent and purpose, this was another attempt to accommodate the high demands of schedules and all the other things the youth are involved in.
After considering the progress since September, I am not pleased with the outcome at this point. Furthermore, the Adult class that I have instructed since I first began at St. John’s in 2008 was forced to meet every other week and has now seen a major decline in participation.
Having said, all this, I hate to change midway, but I feel I don’t have a choice. For the sake of ministry and completing what I must to get the kids confirmed, I have outlined a new schedule. I will be available on these Thursday evenings to move the kids forward with Confirmation instruction. I will no longer be meeting with the group on Sunday mornings. Please keep in mind, the Thursday evening sessions ONLY apply to 8th grade students and those in grades above who are wishing to be confirmed in May. The 6th and 7th grade students are asked to continue upstairs with Dana and Tony. In addition, all students are to continue in their worship reports and regular worship attendance.
Again, I am sorry to switch things up, but evaluating the progress and the impact of the program thus far has forced me to respond this way. Thank you for your anticipated understanding. I hope for everyone’s participation and I look forward to celebrating Confirmation in May with those students who have completed their study!
