It was a pretty fascinating morning this morning. It remined me of the time a few years ago when Jenny and I got away to Alleghany (just the two of us) as a Pastor Appreciation gift.

Well, the first thing that came to my mind as I took everything in was “this morning was an “in between the seasons” kind of morning. A quick reminder to me that Fall looks like it is nearing it’s end and the next season is upon us.

That got me thinking. Our lives can be a sort of “in between the seasons” at times. One season coming to an end… the next on the way. The difficulty though, is we may not always like the end of the season (I’m not a big fan of winter by the way) We might not like the transition, the change. Change isn’t easy.

But you know, maybe there is something  rich to the “in between time.” Maybe it is meant to be a time of consideration, a time to be thankful and a time to be hopeful for what is to come.

After all there is beauty and goodness with each new season!

This morning my eyes were opened to the significance of the seasons (just as I complained and commented yesterday at the sight of snow falling that it was time to move south… no more winter). In the few moments of snapping some photos this AM I was able to consider the beauty before my eyes and while doing that ponder with thanks all the blessings of those falls days which are coming to a close. And in a very special way, today I got a glimpse of the beauty to come!  A burst of joy filled me for all that God will work in the next season’s days!

As God’s people, we can appreciate it all  (even when the season might include rainy, grey or cold times…  because God is always at work; he is “making things new” he is “making things beautiful for us all the time.”

So today, if you are in between seasons or if “an in between season” is approaching, I hope that you can hope in the beauty of what is to come and rejoice in the beauty of the season that was.

This morning was truly beautiful.

And So are our days…. Our everyday with the God of creation, the Son of redemption and new beginnings, and the Holy Spirit who works in us faith, hope, and love.
